The Grove Suite Sun Deck

Royal Caribbean’s largest Suite Neighborhood to date is four decks of luxury on Icon of the Seas, featuring a two-level suite sun deck – The Grove – and endless ocean views. Royal Suite Class guests can unwind at their own private pool, whirlpool and a new casual Mediterranean dining venue.

We make every effort to accommodate our guests’ dietary requirements whenever possible.

We can accommodate dietary needs such as: Food allergies, Gluten-free, Kosher, Low-fat, and Low-sodium.

A variety of vegetarian Meals are available on all menus in the Main Dining Room and Windjammer Cafe every day. Guests do not need to make a special request for these meals.

Lactose-free/soy milk, ensure, and kosher meals are available at no extra charge. All you have to do is notify us at least 45 days prior to sailing (90 days for European/South American Itineraries).

Vegan menus are available upon request at the Main Dining Room.

Kosher for Passover meal requests MUST be received 90 days in advance in order to be accommodated. Contact your travel advisor or or our Special Services team and request that the remark be noted in your reservation details. If you made your reservation online at royalcaribbean.co.uk you may add your request to the “update personal information.” section.

You may also send an e-mail request to royalspecialservicesuk@rccl.com; please include in the e-mail the guests’ names, booking number, ship name and sail date. E-mails will receive an automated response. We kindly ask that guests do not call Royal Caribbean International suppliers with specific questions.

Special meal requests that are received less than 45 days of sailing (90 days for European/Asian itineraries) are dependent on the ship’s product availability. We will try to accommodate to the best of our ability.

Please note: Baby food is available via our Gifts and Gear page via our Babies To Go program and infant formula is not provided on board. Guests may not bring on board any food items other than baby food and/or dry, nonperishable snack items (cookies, crackers, chips, energy bars, etc).

Disabled Facilities

Q | What assistance does Royal Caribbean provide guests with disabilities getting on and off the ship?

A | We have personnel with wheelchairs who provide assistance with pushing wheelchairs on and off the ship using gangways and boarding bridges. A | We do not require proof of disability such as medical certificates or disability placards. However, we do require you to acknowledge your need for the accessible stateroom by completing a Guest Special Needs Form.

Q | Is Perfect Day at CocoCay accessible? What are the services for guests with disabilities?

A | Perfect Day at CocoCay is an accessible island. There are complimentary beach access wheelchairs available throughout the island on a first come first served basis. Once on the island, ask a crew member for assistance to locate an available wheelchair.

Accessible trams are available on regular rotation throughout the island.

Coco Beach Club is accessible and includes complimentary beach wheelchairs, pool lift, lower counter at the bar, and ramps to the dining area. Oasis Lagoon freshwater pool and the infinity pool at Coco Beach Club have pool lifts and the Wave Pool in Thrill Waterpark is also wheelchair accessible.

Note that the towers to the waterpark’s slides and the tower to the Zip Line have stairs.

Q | Are guests with disabilities required to have a companion to sail onboard a Royal Caribbean cruise ship?

A | We do not require that a guest with a disability travel with another person as a condition for traveling on our ships. However, our personnel are not required to perform personal tasks (e.g. assisting with eating, dressing, toileting or lifting and therefore, guest requiring assistance with these functions should consider these needs when making a booking.)

Q | Does Royal Caribbean provide Braille formatted material onboard the ship?

A | No, however we provide Qualified Readers onboard our ships for guests who are blind or have low vision. Select crewmembers have been trained as qualified readers to read written material such as the daily Cruise Compass and shore excursions information. Waiters will also read dining menus upon request. Q | Are service animals allowed onboard a Royal Caribbean cruise ship? What about emotional support animals?

A | Service Animals – Yes, we accept service animals on all our ships. Please see our Service Animal section for more details about our service animal policies.

Guests traveling with a service animal should contact Accessible Shore Excursions to review guidelines and arrange special accommodations on tours.

Emotional Support Animals – We’ve changed our policy on emotional support animals onboard our ships. Q | Are shore excursions wheelchair accessible?

A | Due to the historical nature of the sites and venues at some ports of call as well as the uneven terrain, inclines, steps to navigate and narrow sidewalks not all tours offer access to wheelchair/ scooters. Accessible tours are tours designed for full time wheelchair users or guests unable to negotiate motor-coach steps. They are available in certain ports based on the transportation we have been able to secure.

To better assist you please complete the Accessible Shore Excursions Form. Once the information is received we will be able to provide you with the applicable list of tour available for your sailing.

Dress Code

When you’re onboard, the right look will vary by venue. But here are a few types of suggested attire you’ll see, grouped by item.

• Casual: You’re on vacation – relax! Jeans, polos, sundresses and blouses are all the right amount of laid back. Please keep swimwear to the Pool Deck. Shorts are welcomed for breakfast and lunch.
• Smart Casual: Think of this as a step up from your typical dinner wear. Dress to impress with collared shirts, dresses, skirts and blouses, or pantsuits. Jackets, sports coats and blazers are snazzy and welcomed.
• Formal: Make it a night out in your best black-tie look – suits and ties, tuxedos, cocktail dresses or evening gowns. There can be 1-3 formal nights during a sailing and is at the ship’s discretion.

Formal nights:

• 3/4/5 night cruises – usually on Day 2
• 6 night cruises – usually on day 2 and 5
• 7 night cruises – are usually on Day 2 and 6
• Oasis and Allure use Day 2 and 5 on Western itineraries and Day 2 and 6 on Eastern itineraries.

Please note that bare feet are not allowed at any time in any venue and tank tops are not permitted in the Main Dining Room or Specialty Dining venues for dinner.

Age Restrictions

Effective immediately on all sailings, the minimum drinking age for all alcoholic beverages on all Royal Caribbean International is as follows.

• The minimum age to consume alcohol on Royal Caribbean International ships on sailings originating in North America is twenty-one (21).
• The minimum age to consume alcohol on Royal Caribbean International ships on sailings originating in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is twenty-one (21).
• The minimum age to consume alcohol on Royal Caribbean International ships on sailings from South America, Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand is eighteen (18).
• The minimum age to consume alcohol at all private destinations remains twenty-one (21) without regard to where the sailing originated.

The Company retains the right, on rare occasions, to raise the minimum age of alcohol consumption on any sailing when local laws require or permit such a modification.

Alcohol Policy

Guests are not allowed to bring beer or hard liquor onboard for consumption or any other use.

Alcoholic beverages seized on embarkation day will not be returned. Security may inspect containers (water bottles, soda bottles, mouthwash, luggage etc.) and will dispose of containers holding alcohol. Guests who violate any alcohol policies, (over consume, provide alcohol to people under the legal drinking age, demonstrate irresponsible behaviour, or attempt to conceal alcoholic items at security and or luggage check points or any other time), may be disembarked or not allowed to board, at their own expense, in accordance with our Guest Conduct Policy. Guests who are under the permitted drinking age will not have alcohol returned to them. Please Note: All guests must comply with TSA guidelines for transporting liquids.

On boarding day, guests may bring onboard two (2) 750 ml bottles of personal wine or champagne per stateroom in their carry-on luggage. If more than two bottles of wine or champagne are brought onboard, including any alcoholic beverages purchased in ports-of-call or in our onboard shops, they will be stored by the ship and delivered to your stateroom on your last day onboard.

Guests on consecutive cruises may bring two (2) 750 ml bottles of personal wine or champagne per voyage, per stateroom. Additional bottles will be stored by the ship and two bottles at a time will be delivered to the stateroom on the first day of each new voyage. Guests bringing more than two bottles at the start of the first sailing should have documentation for any consecutive sailings available to share with security on boarding day.

Smoking Policy

For the comfort and enjoyment of our guests, our ships are designated as non-smoking; however, we recognise that some of our guests do smoke. Therefore, to provide an onboard environment that also satisfies smokers, we have designated certain areas of the ship as smoking areas.

Cigarette, cigar, e-cigarette and pipe smoking is permitted in designated outdoor areas. To assist in locating areas where smoking is permitted, guests will find visible signage posted within all smoking areas and ashtrays that are provided for use. Outdoor areas near restricted areas, food venues, and kids play areas and pools will not allow smoking. On Oasis class, smoking is not permitted in Central Park or the Boardwalk neighbourhoods.

Casino Royale allows smoking and has a designated area for non-smoking guests. There will be visible signage indicating the non-smoking area in the casino. All cruises departing from China and Hong Kong will not have a non-smoking area in the casino. Smoking is not permitted in the casino for any ships departing from Australia and the United Kingdom.

Onboard all interior public spaces are smoke free*. Smoking is not permitted in any dining venue, theatre, bar, lounge, hallway, elevator, and jogging track.

Smoking is not permitted inside any stateroom and any stateroom balcony. This applies to all stateroom categories onboard. If a guest is in violation of this stateroom policy, a cleaning fee of $250 USD will be applied to their SeaPass® account and may be subject to further action pursuant to the “Consequences Section” of the Guest Conduct Policy.

Cigarettes, cigars and pipe tobacco must be properly disposed of and never thrown overboard. Cigar and pipe tobacco is limited to designated outdoor areas and Cigar Bars**. You must be at least 18 years of age to purchase, possess or use tobacco onboard.

Electronic cigarettes or e-cigarettes are only permitted within the designated smoking areas.

Royal Caribbean International kindly asks all guests to please observe the smoking policy. These requests are made to provide a comfortable cruise for everyone. Guest may also inquire at Guest Services for the location of the designated smoking areas onboard.

Guests who violate this smoking policy may be subject to further action pursuant to the “Consequences Section” of this Guest Conduct Policy.

Royal Caribbean updated the smoking policy September 2013 and the above policy is in enforcement on all ships with cruises departing on or after January 1, 2014.

Wi-Fi & Internet Access

There are 2 options to stay connected while onboard.

1. VOOM Wireless Internet Access (Wi-Fi) All you need is a wireless device with wifi capability.

2. Wired (iCafes) Internet stations are available onboard, the location of which vary depending on the ship.

VOOM is available onboard all ships fleetwide. Prices for internet access vary and are subject to change. Log on to the to the network “”royal-wifi”” using your device, open your browser and follow instructions to log on.

What is (free) included in a cruise on Icon of the Seas?

VACATIONS THRILLS INCLUDED IN YOUR CRUISE

A cruise vacation is a great opportunity to go outside your comfort zone and try something new with thrilling activities like Category 6. Located in the Thrill Island neighborhood of the ship, Category 6 is a sprawling water park that encompasses six ground-breaking waterslides, including the tallest waterslide on the seas, the first open free-fall waterslide on a cruise, the first family raft slide on a ship and exhilarating mat racers, just to name a few. The best part? Guests can ride any and all of the slides as many times as they like for free.

If you’re like me, then it wouldn’t be a vacation without getting your adrenaline pumping. The FlowRider is a returning favorite to Icon of the Seas℠. This huge surf simulator funnels 30,000 gallons of rushing water to create the perfect swells all day, every day. It’s one of the top free things to do on any ship that has one onboard, including the first Icon Class cruise ship. You can choose to tame the waves — and try to keep your balance — upright on your feet or hit the water boogie-style on your belly. Rides are complimentary for cruise guests, though you can also reserve lessons with an instructor for a fee.

The Rock Climbing Wall is one of my favorite cruise activities. It’s known for yielding some of the best views at sea, too. Located on Deck 16 in the Thrill Island neighborhood, Icon of the Seas takes rock climbing to the next level with Adrenaline Peak. It’s the ultimate rock climbing experience: a thrilling, pulse-pumping scramble to a vantage point that will wow you. It even has racing for speed climbers. Adrenaline Peak is totally free for cruise guests; anyone ages six years or older is welcome to harness up and head to the top as many times as they like.

Discovering what is included on a Royal Caribbean cruise with Icon of the Seas℠ brings fun family-friendly activities to the next level. For example, the Lost Dunes for example is one of the best mini-golf courses at sea and it’s included in your cruise fare. Tee up with your friends or family and putt putt your way across this nine-hole course complete with shipwrecks and fallen palms as obstacles — you’ll find it’s par none, and it’s completely free. Challenge your family to a friendly contest: Whoever shoots a hole-in-one gets treated to ice cream.

There’s no better place than the Sports Court to keep your family’s competitive side going. Onboard Icon of the Seas℠, this large play space offers a variety of different team activities, including basketball, volleyball, pickleball and dodgeball. You don’t need to make a reservation or pay a fee to enjoy the Sports Court at any point during your cruise — just keep in mind that equipment is subject to availability and is first come, first served.

If you’re cruising with your children, there’s no shortage of activities and attractions to excite little ones onboard Icon of the Seas℠. Like Playscape, a place for kids to slide, climb and play. There’s also the cruise ship’s beach-themed carousel, which doubles as a great photo opp. Both attractions are included in your cruise fare.

On a beautiful sunny day, head to Splashaway Bay, an aqua park for pint-sized cruisers. It’s designed exclusively with tots to tweens in mind and offers plenty of cool interactive water features and mini waterslides just for little ones. Think water cannons, fountains, splash pools and more. There’s also Baby Bay for your littlest adventure seekers. And of course, admission is included in your cruise fare.

SEVEN POOLS, ENDLESS WAYS TO CATCH YOUR RAYS

That’s right — seven. Each pool has its own unique vibe, and every one is free for cruise guests (though one is exclusively for Suite Guests…more on that later). So let’s take a tour of all the picture-perfect places to plunge. First stop is the Hideaway Pool — the only suspended infinity pool at sea, you can soak up ocean views surrounded by a multilevel sun terrace with its own resident DJ, whirlpools, a variety of seating and a dedicated bar. Then there’s Royal Bay, the largest pool at sea with over 40,000 gallons of water, plenty of in-water loungers and raised whirlpools that offer beautiful ocean views. If you love a swim-up bar — and who doesn’t? — grab a seat at Swim & Tonic, the first swim-up bar in the Royal Caribbean® fleet. Water’s Edge Pool has everything families need to make a splash with the little ones right in the heart of Surfside. And on the flip side, Cloud 17 is a chill adults-only pool you can pair with a poolside drink from The Lime and Coconut. Finally, the Cove Pool is located portside and directly facing the wide-open sea, offering stunning views and a laid-back vibe perfect for a day spent reading or listening to your favorite podcast.

Wondering which restaurants are free on Icon of the Seas? There are several dining options where every bite is complimentary. This includes the casual, family-friendly Surfside Eatery buffet and Surfside Bites, your go-to for sweet and salty snacks. If you’re staying in a suite, there’s Coastal Kitchen and the Grove. More Icon of the Seas complimentary restaurants will be announced in the near future, so stay tuned.

Gratuities: The automatic service gratuity is $14.50 USD per person, per day for guests in Junior Suites and below, or $17.50 USD per person, per day for guests in Grand Suites and above, applied to each guest’s SeaPass account on a daily basis.
