Restaurant

All meals are served in the sun-lit Restaurant located on the Middle Deck with most of the tables set for six. Meals are served at set times each day; the bang of a gong heralds mealtime.

Open seating allows you to mingle with the same guests every evening or meet someone new each day.

Sun Deck

A cafe breakfast consisting of coffee, juice and pastries is available on the Sun Deck from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. each day. A buffet breakfast is offered from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. each day, with breads and pastries, an assortment of fruit, meats, cheeses, cereal, a hot porridge and yogurt. Hot dishes are cooked to order, and typically include eggs, bacon, grilled tomatoes and potatoes. A selection of fresh juices and Champagne for mimosas is available, besides the usual teas and coffee. Passengers are asked to order their choice of luncheon entree at breakfast, and their pick for dinner courses at lunchtime.

Sky Bar

Located on the Sun Deck, the bar is lively and inviting; a gathering place for guests to have a drink and hear live music every evening. Count on at least one night of dancing, with lessons in regional dance that evolve into an “anything goes” dance party.

Lounge

The beautiful lounge is a great place to have a drink and relax with friends before enjoying a gourmet dinner in the restaurant. Or simply unwind with like-minded guests as you enjoy amazing river views.

Library

Visit the onboard library for a quiet and relaxing spot to read your book, or take advantage of the large collection the ship provides.

Spa

The small spa onboard has two treatment rooms, mostly used for massage.

Disabled Facilities

Viking Cruises welcomes disabled guests but wishes all guests to understand that challenges will exist onboard and during shore excursions. The ocean vessels have elevators, but there may still be thresholds that could make movement difficult. Shore excursions may require movement over cobblestones or up and down stairs; accordingly, a physically challenged guest will require the services of a responsible adult since crew availability is limited. Guests need to provide their own wheelchairs, except in an emergency. Motorised scooters are not typically suited on international cruises and cannot be accommodated. Viking does not accommodate animals except for certified therapy or Seeing Eye dogs on our international itineraries.

When you make your reservation, please let them know of any disability that will require special attention while you are on your Viking Ocean Cruise itinerary.

Special Dietary Requirements

In most cases Viking can accommodate special dietary needs. Every meal has vegetarian options and chefs will make reasonable efforts to accommodate requests. Guests requiring special diets (low salt, diabetic, gluten-free and low cholesterol) should alert Viking 90 days prior to departure and remind the Maître d’ when onboard.

Age Restrictions

Due to the nature of Viking cruises, they do not maintain specific facilities or services for children aboard cruise vessels. In the circumstances you and all members of your party must be aged 18 or over on or before the day you are scheduled to embark on the cruise vessel.

Dress Code

Dress is casual and comfortable, both on board and ashore. Because the weather can be unpredictable, it is best to bring layers—have a sweater or light jacket for spring and summer, and a heavier jacket for chillier months. Rain can happen at any time, so a collapsible umbrella is a “must.” You are likely to do a good deal of walking during shore excursions, so you will definitely want sturdy, comfortable walking shoes; but, since our ships are much smaller than ocean cruising vessels, you do not have to worry about too much walking on board.

There are no “formal nights” on board, but there is usually a Captain’s Welcome Dinner and/or Farewell Dinner; on many itineraries, you will attend a concert, ballet performance or other dressier event. For these evenings, you might like to bring “dressy casual” wear.
